Northern Michigan Lamb & Wool Festival

Sheep Shearing School

Friday, September 25, 2015

Open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 & 27, 2015

The Shearing School remains a hit at the festival, with some students going on to win national-level shearing competitions! Jim Bristol and his crew of expert shearers will teach shearing technique, equipment care and setup, sheep handling, wool handling, and other basic sheep-shearing skills, in a sheep-shearing trailer designed for proper sheep and wool handling.

This school is not for the faint of heart! Wear old clothes, and bring your favorite analgesic - you'll need it!

We will supply all equipment or help you set up and use your own equipment. You will get the one-on-one instruction needed to learn this craft. School is limited to 16 students, so sign up early.

The Shearing School will be held Friday, September 27, from 9 am through 4 pm, with a break for lunch. Please sign up by sending in the Shearing School and Fiber Workshop Registration with your payment of $120 (plus late fee of $5 if after August 15th). In addition to the hands-on learning, you will also receive the ASI Shearing Booklet.
