Northern Michigan Lamb & Wool Festival

2007 Volunteer Opportunities

September 26 - 28, 2008

Volunteers create a festival from the ground up, and keep it running year after year. The hours are countless, but the rewards great! This festival is a particular joy to contribute to, as it's truly the friendliest fiber festival around. Join our little "family" and help us make it the best in the midwest!

Jobs we need volunteers before and during the festival include:

  • Set-up and clean-up
  • Vendor helpers
  • Teacher helpers
  • Office staff
  • Hospitality area
  • Roving photographer
  • Booklet creator
  • Guild reps
  • Promotions booth

Some things must be done before the festival opens, starting Thursday afternoon, and we're often working late Sunday before the place is spic and span and ready to close for the winter. Vendors and teachers love to have help carrying their stock in and out, and we'd like to provide runners during the festival to fetch drinks, etc, for them, too.

Each volunteer gets a little back for the generous gift of time, talent, and energy:

  • Free membership in the festival, with all the benefits that includes (see Membership and Partnership for more info)
  • One meal ticket good at our food vendors for $6 per day, for each day on which four or more hours are worked at the festival
  • Five door prize tickets for each day worked at the festival (must be present at the festival to claim a prize if it’s a winning ticket)
  • The satisfaction of knowing you’re supporting the friendliest little fiber festival around!

If any of this appeals to you, please contact a committee member if you have a specific area you'd like to help in, or Holly Shaltz if you wish to be of general use.
